Important Message
The recent rash of suicides among cisgendered gay males has gotten massive amounts
of media coverage while trans women, especially trans women of color,
are being killed at much higher rates. The mainstream LGB community has ostracised,
ignored, and silenced the Trans community for as long as we can remember.
We are sick of it. While you are begging the State to allow gays to marry,
campaigning against Prop 8 and DADT, we are being MURDERED a
and you ignore us. When a few white men commit suicide, you hold vigils,
call for anti-bullying campaigning in schools, and yet the suicide rates for transgendered people are FIVE TIMES higher than the national average
and murder rates at SIXTEEN TIMES more. In addition, more than half of the people who have committed violent acts towards transgendered people have been law enforcement
officers. If we can't trust the police to protect us, and we can't trust the LGB community to have solidarity with us, who can we trust?
